Ok. So I tried to give it a chance internally. I tried to see what kind of motive she has for being involved. But I am not pleased. She is being messy as hell. Aaliyah was 15 when the marriage with R. Kelly took place and unfortunately she died at the age of 22. She never had a chance to publicly address the situation as an adult. So being excited to get “the dirt” on a 27 year old man that was meant to be her mentor and married her instead is not cool. Not once did Wendy mention this movie as being a tribute to her talent or her artistry. She is solely concerned with her personal life, a life in which Aaliyah was extremely guarded about. She claims to want to “get it right” but without family involvement and the involvement of people who knew and worked with her how right do you really think you are going to get it. When Jennifer Lopez played Selena she was very hands on with the family and with the area in which Selena grew up in. TLC hand picked Lil Mama to play Left Eye and Lil Mama even met with members of Lisa’s Family. Without the involvement of the people that knew her I am afraid that this movie will be based solely off of speculation and hearsay which is why Mrs. Haughton is against the movie. If I read the book Wendy Williams would not know any more than I would regarding the theory regarding Aaliyah’s personal life. In fact she may know less than me considering that I have actually met and spent time with certain members of her family. I am not attacking Wendy personally and other than her involvement in the movie I have no issue with her but I think she is dead wrong if this is what the movie is going to focus on..
You know what.. The more I think about this the angrier I get. Aaliyah was not an adult when the incident took place. She was a 15 year old child. This woman is really sitting on stage happy about the fact that she gets to “get it right” on the Statutory rape of a 15 year minor. Despite her celebrity status at the time it does not make it right. What happened to her is none of our business. It is not our right to know. Its not your job to get the scoop on an affair between a 27 year old man and his 15 year old counterpart and speculate what happened ESPECIALLY when the person has passed away and is not here to even have the simple choice of defending themselves against your theories and claims about what “really” happened. She and every other producer involved needs to be ashamed IF they plan on talking about this situation in depth. I feel so much for Aaliyah’s mother and brother (rip to her father who passed in 2012), they have to witness this hot mess of a hot topic.
I keep rewatching it and caught the part where she literally says “I want to know what you want to know” making it painfully obvious that She as the fucking producer does NOT know. By her own admission she knows just as much as the audience. This is sad and disrespectful.
My native black American friend*, also going places
I want him in my group when the zombie apocalypse hits
But he uses up so much energy jumping over walls like that. Unless he has some impossible ass stamina, I wouldn’t want him doing this on my team. Apocalypse situation, he is cool to look at. Right before we have to carry his ass back to the safehouse where he will eat more than the allotted rations because he wanna look cool when shooting an arrow.
Plus the fact that he probably missed whatever his target was because of that disorientating ass flip. He better retrieve that goddamn arrow too, we don’t waste ammo around heah
this is sucriya. she accessorizes her catholic school uniform with a different scarf every day, which every teacher writes her up for. when my principal walked up to her and pointed to her scarf and said “what’s this?” she said
"sister, that’s fashion"
and just walked away
